Team Kearny: Democrats for Town Council

Team Kearny

Kearny is a beautiful town, and as elected officials, it's our job to make sure that everyone can experience it. Team Kearny already created the town's first Hispanic Heritage celebration, Movie Nights in the Park, and supported the new Hispanic Senior Club.We're working to make sure families, seniors, and young people have year-round programming that reflects our community.What we'll do:<ul><li>Expand senior services and host more events and activities</li><li>Create town-sponsored adult and youth recreation programs, including arts, STEM, and activities for all ages</li><li>Create year-round cultural programming to celebrate Kearny's diverse communities</li><li>Bring more family events to our parks year-round</li></ul>

Stronger Community

Team Kearny already passed e-bike safety regulations that became a model for other towns, increased parking permits, and led the Midland Ave. streetscape redesign to help Kearny's small business community.We're working to make sure every neighborhood has streets that are safe, well-maintained, and work for everyone.What we'll do:<ul><li>Improve crosswalks, signage, and speed humps near schools, parks, and daycares</li><li>Re-pave roads, replace lead service lines, and improve parking with a neighborhood-by-neighborhood approach</li><li>Support first responders in the police and fire departments</li><li>Enforce snow removal so families aren't stuck walking in the street after a storm</li><li>Invest in updated parks and public spaces in every ward</li><li>Expand tree planting and green infrastructure for safer, healthier neighborhoods</li></ul>

Safe Streets

Team Kearny is fighting to make town government accessible to everyone. We made sure town updates and events are shared on social media. Now we're working to translate town information into more languages and increase outreach about local services.What we'll do:<ul><li>Translate town information and resources into Spanish and Portuguese</li><li>Make town services available outside of regular business hours so working families can actually access them</li><li>Increase outreach on town services so everyone knows what's available through the town</li><li>Improve communication around ordinances, budgets, and major decisions so nothing gets passed without residents knowing about it</li></ul>

We forced the first honest public conversation about Kearny's finances in over two decades, and we're not stopping until there's a real plan to balance the budget and protect taxpayers.What we'll do:<ul><li>Close the budget deficit with a multi-year financial plan instead of budgeting year to year</li><li>Stabilize property taxes and protect families from sudden spikes</li><li>Expand shared services with neighboring towns to lower costs</li><li>Find savings through departmental budget reviews</li></ul>
