George Zapata is a lifelong Kearny resident, former School Board member, and the youngest person ever elected to public office in Kearny.

A dedicated public servant and paralegal, Councilman Zapata spearheaded the town's first Hispanic Heritage celebration, passed comprehensive e-bike and e-scooter safety regulations that became a model for neighboring cities, and successfully advocated in Trenton for more school funding for Kearny.

Councilman Dennis Solano

Kearny's 2nd ward

Dennis Solano is the son of immigrants, a PSE&G gas mechanic, and the first Peruvian-American elected to the Kearny Town Council.

A long-time community advocate, Dennis worked with his neighbors to improve parking in the 2nd Ward, helped secure new fire engines and firehouse upgrades through his work on the fire committee, and brings hands-on infrastructure knowledge to every council meeting.

Sarah Bonilla is a lifelong Kearny resident, mom, runner, and proud Ecuadorian American. Sarah has spent her career strengthening public health systems so they actually work for the people they serve.

Endorsed by retiring Councilwoman Eileen Eckel, Sarah brings experience leading Essex County's public health accreditation effort, directing the Center of Excellence for Latino Health at Clara Maass Medical Center, and as a former professor of health equity at Montclair State University.

Kearny's 4th ward

Stathis Theodoropoulos is a small business owner, policy advocate, and lifelong Kearny resident.

Councilman Theodoropoulos has fought for transparency in Kearny's finances, better communication from Town Hall, and more community events for families. He views his job as bringing people together to solve problems, and he's not afraid of the tough conversations it takes to get there.
